We partnered with the Shift in South Africa, brand agency for AmaZulu FC one of South Africa’s biggest football clubs to create a new brand font for AmaZulu FC.

The concept was to create something that involved the fans of the club. With hundreds of pictures taken of placards written by fans. Having a range of fan written letters, a custom display font was created. This was not to be replicate handwriting but rather a font that is a bold, strong display font that is influenced by and used the handwritten nuances to create something unique that tied back to the most important thing, the Fans.

The finished typeface included two stylistic sets which allows for more customisation to play with alternate letters and bringing in more unique letterforms which link back to handwriting and its irregular forms.
